5 Things I'm Looking Forward To!

Alright, yesterday's post left me in a bad mood. To make up for it, here's another one of my famous list's of happiness! This is what I am looking forward to in the near future:

1. Queen's Day: In celebration of the Queen's Birthday, although it is actually the date the current queen's mother's birthday, people take to the street in Orange, the national color and my favorite! To drink beer, buy random crap, and dance. I haven't been before, but in my mind I imagine it to look like the scene in Chasing Liberty when Mandy Moore finally makes it to the Love Parade. The Verlo and I are heading up to Amsterdam to hangout with one of my favorite's!

2. I look forward to hopefully finding out when and where I will start my Inburgering Classes. I have a feeling this will happen in May.

3. Book Clubs in May! Which means I will meet some new peeps!

4. The trial study day for a school I am in the middle of the application process for is in May. I got  the good news yesterday that I passed a major step of the admissions process, I've got a few more to go, but I have confidence.

5. I have made some awesome friends here, I can't wait to see what we will get up to next month!

What's happening in your life that makes you sunny side up?

March Photo Challenge: Day 14: Clouds

Dutch Light

I briefly touched on how much I love the Dutch sky in my post 10 Things I Still Love About My New Home After 3 Months. There is something so breathtaking about the way the sunshine passes through the clouds here, that it paints the landscape in a beautiful golden sheen. Dutch light has long been a phenomenon in the art world. If you want to see what I am referring you have only to look at the work one of the most famous Dutch artists, Johannes Vermeer.  Pictures hardly do it justice, but here are some of the best ones I have.

March Photo Challenge: Day 9: Red

Swan

You probably guessed that for Red, I would post pictures from the Red Light District in Amsterdam. Good guess, but I bet you weren't anticipating seeing a bunch of photos of swans. When I was walking around the Red Light District in January, I was overtaken by the juxtaposition of resting swans against the sextastic streets. Cleary beauty is all around us. You just have to look.

March Photo Challenge: Day 1: Up!

Koninklijk Palais Amsterdam, Royal Palace Amsterdam

Last month, I had so much fun checking fellow expat blog Lily Wanderlust's post for fatmumslim's February photo challenge that I felt the need to join for March! Today's challenge was the word up. So, here is one of my favorite photo's looking up. These are the unicorns that adorn the  Koninklijk Paleis, on the Dam Square in Amsterdam. This beautiful building was commissioned to be built in 1648 and was the palace of Louis Napoleon, and William of Orange. Koninklijk Paleis translates to Royal Palace.
